Life’s Random Moments

Beneath the awning

In a diner

The lonely woman

Sits at the smallest table

Eating the salad, she glances around

No one makes eye contact

But they all subconsciously

Acknowledge her existence

She wants to be like them

To be with another

A man approaches the diner alone

Wanting to take it all in

He surveys the tables

The woman makes eye contact with him

A split second connection

Broken as he goes in

Seventeen minutes pass

The lonely man returns

“May I sit here?”

“Um..sure”

Two lonely souls

Sitting together, not alone

When the meal is finished

All those who acknowledged her

Saw her leaving with a friend
