A Light Pierces the Dark

A world so old
History so long
Culture developed
Faith all but lost
Nothing to believe
Darkness all consuming
A reality we know
But we choose to forget
The only thing that can
Break a darkness
Is a light
Men and women
They carry that light
Bring it through
On a golden staff
A symbol of joy
Of a future brighter
Hope and joy
The love of man wholly pure
No fault or error
He forged the light
Created it for us
For we are a city on a hill
Shining for all to see
